Wood Badge II Training

Online registration open March 2-15

Participants must commit to the following dates:

  • Information Session: Thursday, April 3, 2025, 7:00p.m. - 8:00 p.m. – VIA TEAMS
  • Pre-Camp: Saturday, May 10, 2025, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – LOCATION TBD
  • Camp: Friday, June 20, 2025, 5:00 p.m. – Sunday, June 22, 2025, 3:00 p.m. – CAMP ALLOWAY, Whiteshell Provincial Park

PRE-REQUISTES:

  • Must have WBI and have been an Active Scouter for a MINIMUM of 1 years (and still currently an Active Scouter).
  • Must have attended 2 separate camping trips (with Scouting Group); overnight; outdoors.

**Please note that these Pre-Requisites does not mean that you cannot start working on WBII. Due to the style of camping that this workshop will entail, it is important that we consider safety. This Workshop is not about learning how to set up a tent but rather it is about providing an advanced environment for Scouters to be able to demonstrate the skills outlined in WBII and to provide guidance to those who need.

COST: $50.00 (Registration Fee Only)

PATROLS

  • Patrols will be made up of 4-6 Scouters (you do not need to form your own Patrol, we will take care of that for you).
  • Patrols will be responsible to work together to plan and purchase their meals for the weekend.
  • Patrols will be responsible to bring their own camping and kitchen gear. This includes water for their patrol.

FACILITATORS

  • Facilitators will provide hands on insight and knowledge to help Patrols work together to complete a meal plan and plan for suitable equipment.
  • Facilitators will provide hands on assistance with a proper campsite layout.
  • Facilitators will provide courses throughout the weekend to provide Patrols with the opportunity to demonstrate the skills required for WBII.
  • Facilitators will provide guidance and assistance to Scouters on how to assess their standing with WBII and provide insight on how to continue forward.
  • Facilitators will provide firewood.
  • Facilitators will provide boat transportation from the Government Dock of Big Whiteshell to Camp Alloway.

Outdoors Skills Training

Registration for Outdoor Skills Training

All Section Scouters require the Outdoor Skills as part of their WB II.

DATE:  Saturday, April 5, 2025

TIME:  08:30 AM Registration

            9:00 AM - 6 PM Training

LOCATION: The training location will be held SE of Portage la Prairie, between Oakville & Southport, as shown on map which will be provided with your joining instructions.

CANCELLATION POLICY

TRAINING: includes topics on fires, knots, safe drinking water, compass, maps and dealing with getting lost, weather conditions and hazards, environmental conditions, safe and correct use of camping equipment, emergency day pack, menu planning, camp layout and impacts of outdoor activities on the environment.
