Operation Ice Cap Home

Operation Ice Cap January 17-19, 2020

Situated 15km North of Gimli, Camp Arnes is classified as a full residential camp. It exceeds the requirements set out by the national and provincial councils of Scouts Canada. From the huge cedar dining hall, to the Wigwam meeting house, right down to the Candace Doerksen Memorial Swimming Pool, Camp Arnes has all of the facilities for a great weekend winter camp.  The Cub Scouts and their Leaders will spend restful nights in one of their many cabins situated on the shore of Lake Winnipeg. ICECAP features full facilities and all meals are included and catered by Camp Arnes staff.

The ICE CAP program has been designed to provide entertainment and some challenges to our Cub Scout campers.  Of course, we have kept some of the favourite activities; swimming, ice fishing and as we do every year, we have our obstacle course competition. We will also have our Friday night “special” event (returning campers are asked to keep their promise regarding Ice Cap surprises!!).

Although this is OPERATION ICECAP 29, the service team that is assembled for this camp have been working together for a long time. We, as a team, take pride in the job we do providing the youth and leaders with a safe and enjoyable camping experience.  Qualified first aiders make up the first aid team. Certified Lifeguards are on the job in the swimming pool, and the youth to adult ratio sits at about four kids for every adult in camp. Cabins are heated and inspected to maximize comfort and safety.
